Dhivehi Font Studio is a DhivehiFont project created specifically for designing and engineering Dhivehi / Thaana fonts.
Most general-purpose font editors are designed around Latin workflows. Dhivehi Font Studio was developed from the opposite direction: script-specific spacing, logical RTL kerning, fili attachment, anchors, ligatures, proofing and Word-oriented OpenType behavior are treated as primary parts of the product.
The editable project format, drawing environment, testing tools and export engine are designed to keep the whole font-production workflow inside one dedicated desktop studio.
Dhivehi was one of my strongest school subjects and I received an A in the SSC examination, but handwriting was where I lost marks. Sometimes I was uncomfortable enough with it that I tried to hide it.
Years later I kept returning to font design. Many attempts failed, but each one taught me more. That work grew into free Dhivehi font releases, handwriting and brush fonts, professional design work and eventually Dhivehi Font Studio.
I work as a graphic designer at Maldives Islamic Bank. Wildlife photography is also a major part of my creative work, and I run a biodiversity species website focused on the Maldives.
The studio combines expressive drawing tools with the technical systems required to make a font behave correctly in real text.

RTL order, fili, anchors, ligatures, special glyphs and Dhivehi QA are visible parts of the interface.
Live compile, proofing, validation and TTF / OTF output connect design decisions to real font binaries.
